The Pandemic Project

The Pandemic Project was appropriately named because the renovation began alongside Covid-19. An up-down duplex, Matt and Juli were seeing double throughout this project: 2 open-concept kitchens, 2 three-season porch remodels, 2 custom bathroom renovations with built-in shower shelves, and 2 very happy sets of tenants who moved in once the renovation was complete!

Matt and Juli purchased The Pandemic Project just as the world was shutting down; we signed the closing paperwork mere hours before the stay-at-home orders went into effect! Although Matt and Juli never lived in this specific property, our house was only a mile away! On good weather days, we would walk from our home to The Pandemic Project with a wagon filled with tools and paint—we can only imagine what the neighbors thought!

Another up-down duplex, Matt and Juli worked room-by-room, fixing plaster by cutting and filling the cracks, giving radiators a glow-up with metallic spray paint, and refinishing the maple hardwood floors. The larger projects on the property were two complete bathroom renovations, where we experimented with built-in shower shelves and subway tile accent designs, and opened up the closed-concept kitchen to be part of the rest of the living space. We wrapped up the renovation by remodeling the three-season porches on each level of the home, painting the home a modern blue-gray, and replacing the crumbling concrete stairs with oversized wood ones.
