The Brick House
The Brick House was a total home transformation. Converting from a duplex to a single-family home, Matt and Juli constructed 2 additions adding a total of 650 square feet to the property, installed all new mechanicals and completed a full structural reframe. Plus, we incorporated a variety of custom design highlights, including interior brick accent walls, floor-to-ceiling built-in bookshelves, and over 100 square feet of kitchen countertops–by the end of the project, the Brick House was only recognizable by its beautiful red brick exterior!

Home Highlights
The Brick House was Matt and Juli’s largest home renovation to date. It involved a total rework, gut, and rebuild, including a complete structure reframe, removal of all interior walls on the main level with LVL structural beams installed for reinforcement…which Matt installed himself! Originally a duplex, we converted The Brick House into a single family home, which required a full reconfiguration of the upper level and a relocated staircase from the back to the front of the home!
The Brick House has top of the line energy efficiency, complete with spray foam insulation and high quality triple pane windows installed in every room. The old boiler and radiators were removed and replaced with a full forced air system, including air conditioning, and all new plumbing and electrical—and those are just the things behind the walls.
Some of the style highlights in this home are the brick facade interior accents throughout the home, built-in furniture including a 100 square foot floor-to-ceiling bookcase on the 2nd floor, and a built-in bench and dining area. The walk-in pantry, 100 square feet of quartz countertop in the kitchen, and original wood burning stove are all style highlights as well!
Matt and Juli also increased the property size, with two additions—a 2nd level master suite and a sun room/rec room, overall adding 650 sq ft to the property! What began as a 3 bed, 2 bath duplex has transformed into a 4 bed 4 bath home!
Outside, the beautiful exterior brick is a highlight all on its own! Matt and Juli tried to add to its beauty with concrete poured garden beds, brick paver paths winding around the entire property, fence construction, shed construction, and lots and lots of plants!
Most importantly, Matt and Juli grew their family in the Brick House. Sadie began living in the home at 3 months old, and Elijah lived there his entire life (so far!). When they think of this home they think of their wonderful West Side neighbors, sitting on the covered front porch eating ice cream on hot summer nights, and Sadie learning to crawl, walk, and run around the house.
