The Backyard Oasis
The Backyard Oasis—an early 1900’s duplex—was Matt and Juli’s second live-in renovation project, with a much larger scope than The Debut Duplex! On the exterior alone, we repainted the entire stucco property from a faded tan to a pop of forest green! We also completed our first tin roof install. The backyard was where the largest transformation happened (hence its namesake!)

Home Highlights
The Backyard Oasis was all about the outdoors! From a gardener’s paradise, equipped with poured concrete planter boxes, trellis fences, garden counters, and over 150 ft of newly-constructed fence, to a modern transformation inside, complete with concrete countertops, floating custom wood shelves, white washed brick fireplace walls, and 2 new bathrooms, this home felt natural and green both inside and out!
We installed a full 150 ft. fence along the entire property line, poured concrete stairs, constructed a walkout deck that connected the indoor/outdoor living spaces together, built brick pillars, concrete planter boxes, and garden counters made from reclaimed wood original to the house. There was something magical about the soil there—we grew the largest crop of tomatoes we had ever seen while living there!
Inside was also a complete transformation. Matt and Juli hand-poured concrete countertops, built custom wood floating kitchen shelves, and turned the kitchen into the centerpoint of the home. We whitewashed and remodeled a brick fireplace wall, crafted built-in benches and tables for a cozy dining area, and added a powder room on the main floor through some creative optimization of the floor plan.
